Abstract

We present the outline of a data taking system that uses waveformrecording for 50, 000 electronic channels. This system will be used for the readout of a Time Projection Chamber which serves as the central detector of the ALEPH experiment at LIP. The requirements of the digitizing system are discussed, together with the problem of data reduction.
