Abstract
The new species is described from the morphology of all life stages and the cytology of the larval salivary gland chromosomes. It is assigned to the S. vernum group (subgenus Nevermannia) and compared with closely related species of this group. Aspects of its biology, based on the aquatic stages, are described.
