Abstract

Isolation of posterior teeth with a rubber dam during endodontic treatment may be particularly difficult in some clinical situations because of extensive coronal mutilation. A pin-retained cusp-coverage amalgam restoration before endodontic treatment will facilitate isolation and provide protection against fracture.
