Abstract
The extended-spectrum β-lactamase, TEM-63, was identified in three separate genera of South African isolates: Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. This paper describes identification of the gene in these isolates and compares relative rates of hyrolysis between TEM-63 and other known ceftazidimases.
