N2 - The modified negative binomial distribution has been proposed as superior to the negative binomial distribution in describing pion multiplicity data derived from e+ e- annihilations at high energy. We show that in cases where both distributions produce fits with comparable values of chi-square, a factorial moment analysis can be useful in comparing the quality of the fits.
