Abstract
Fondaparinux, an anticoagulant, is a synthetic and specific inhibitor of activated Factor X (Xa). It binds to antithrombin (AT), increasing the affinity of AT affinity for (Xa). Fondaparinux belongs to the class of newer anticoagulants. Fondaparinux is a synthetic pentasaccharide; it is extensively sulfated and its sequence is derived from the AT binding region of heparin © 2008
