Abstract

Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by a low platelet count in the absence of an otherwise recognizable cause for the condition. Primarily a disorder of increased peripheral platelet destruction, it is also known as immune thrombocytopenic purpura.
