The genus Moraxella, named after Victor Morax who worked at the Pasteur Institute (1891-1903), is composed of gram negative aerobic oxidase-positive coccobacilli. Moraxella catarrhalis is a common inhabitant of the upper respiratory tract during the first year of life (30-100%), but declines to 1-10% in adults ....
