Abstract
Scrub typhus, named because of its initial occurrence in areas of scrub vegetation, was first discovered in Japan in 1899, but it was not isolated until 1930. The disease occurs in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, India, Australia, Russia, Korea, the Pacific Islands, and Japan.
